Lesbian Movies/TV Shows THE L WORD?

I have a horrible case of insomnia so I decided to start watching “The L Word” online….well I have been addicted to Dana/Lara, I loved them because they fit, perfectly, they didn’t cheat or anything like that…But then I clicked on a link that said “Alice/Lara” and come to find out, Lara and Alice started going out when Dana died of cancer. Needless to say I was heart broken, I cried my eyes out…yes I know it’s just a show, but still, I really was starting to look up to them, and Laras life style…and now I feel horrible. My question is….why can’t someone make a lesbian show and or movie where they don’t “do” guys, they don’t cheat, they don’t die, they don’t get raped, non of that, why can’t they just be happy? Why can’t someone make something like that? Is that really so hard? Are people really so narrow minded they can’t make a good lesbian flick?

I know what you mean, it would be so much cooler if there would be shows that focused entirely on the soulfulness of lesbian love!
But I’m sure that if you watch the rest of the l word, you’ll be pleased because some of the characters on the show are faithful in long term lesbian relationships, but I do understand what you mean- I hate the down parts like cheating etc..
I suppose the show brings up these obstacles to sort of show us how people can overcome them, and show us their journey and how they survive sad times!

But with that story- Lara and Dana loved each other, but they split up because Dana (she was a famous tennis player), was afraid of being ”outed”, but when she ”came out” she wanted to get back with Lara, but then her and Alice fell in love, then after that Dana bumped into Lara again, but Alice was starting to be suspicious, and then Dana & Lara ended up being with each other again- they still loved each other!
Then Alice and Dana were friends again, but sadly Dana passed away, and then because both Lara and Alice loved Dana very much, they ended up comforting one another, but they didn’t have a relationship or anything.

But, I really do agree with you that lesbian love should be portrayed beautifully by more shows and films!

However, if you want to watch really good lesbian movies or shows which are as great as the L word, I’d recommend these:
